U.S. Crop Search-Interest Report 2026

We tracked 12-month Google search momentum for 111 crop terms. 49 are rising — some sharply. Google Trends reports sampled, normalized search interest, not purchases, planting intent or absolute demand. Here's what gained attention, and which rising crop terms overlap with crops the U.S. still imports.

Key findings

  • Pistachio is the fastest riser: search interest up 127% versus the prior 12-month window.
  • Coffee combines a huge base (84/100 interest index) with +54% growth — while the U.S. net-imports 1.3M tonnes of green coffee.
  • Kitchen-garden staples are surging: figs +68%, sweet potatoes +65%, raspberries +39%.
  • 12 crops are rising in search while the U.S. remains a net importer — a shortlist for further viability and market research, not a production recommendation.

Methodology

Search momentum = average Google Trends interest (U.S. web search) over the trailing 12 months versus the prior 12 months, per crop keyword shown in quotes. The interest index (0–100) is Google's relative scale, where 100 is the most-searched crop keyword in the set. Keyword interest reflects all search intent for the term, not only growing intent. Google says Trends data is sampled and normalized rather than an absolute search-volume or market-demand measure. Low-volume terms can be shown as 0 and are more vulnerable to noise. The current snapshot retains the keyword, index, change, and trend fields, but not the exact export settings listed above. Search interest and trade are different evidence layers. Their overlap is a research shortlist, not proof that searches caused purchases, that the United States can profitably produce the crop, or that the crop is climatically viable in a particular field. Use the linked crop profile and climate-envelope methodology for a separate suitability screen; do not treat this page as a regional demand map because no state-level Trends export was retained.
