Succession planting planner for raised beds
Plan every sowing in every bed on one sheet: dates, area, expected harvest and sales. The planner flags beds that are over-planted or sitting empty, suggests crops that fit a gap at your location, and adds each planting's season weather.

Try it on a sample garden
Four 10 m² raised beds in central Ohio: lettuce sown every three weeks in Bed 1, a bed turned over from radish to beans to spinach, tomatoes, and carrots followed by an empty stretch. Switch to Insights for the bed timeline, crop suggestions and how each season did. The dates, yields, prices, harvests and weather are illustrative. Edit it, or clear it and plan your own beds: your plan stays in this browser and is added to your account when you sign in.

How succession planting works
Instead of sowing a whole bed at once, you sow small batches a few weeks apart, so harvests overlap instead of arriving in one glut. When a crop finishes, the next one goes in, so the bed earns all season. Quick crops such as lettuce, spinach, radish and cilantro suit short intervals; long crops such as tomatoes hold a bed for most of the summer.
The hard part is the bookkeeping: which bed is free when, and how much room each round needs. The planner keeps each round as its own row, checks the room in every bed day by day, and suggests crops whose season at your location fits each empty stretch.
Planning raised beds
Give each bed its size in square metres and place its site on the map, or draw the garden's boundary. Several crops can share a bed: the planner adds up the room each planting needs on every day and warns when a bed is over-planted. Weather and crop suggestions come from the site's location, so a frost-prone garden and a coastal one get different answers.
What the planner does
One row per planting
Like the crop-plan spreadsheet you already keep, edited cell by cell: crop, bed, sowing, transplant and harvest dates, area, yield and price.
Beds that never double-book
A warning when plantings planned for the same days need more room than a bed has, and a timeline of every bed across the year.
Crops for every empty stretch
Click a gap of three weeks or more to see crops with a sowing season at your location that finish in time, with their USDA nutrition per 100 g.
Sales per square metre and per week
Expected harvest and sales for each planting, yearly totals per bed, and which crops carry the year.
Each season's weather
Rain, heat and frost over every planting's own dates, and how each season of a crop did against the harvests you record.

Questions
- What is succession planting?
- Sowing a crop in small batches a few weeks apart, or replanting a bed as soon as one crop finishes, so harvests come steadily instead of in one glut and beds are not left empty.
- How often should I sow lettuce for a steady supply?
- Growers commonly re-sow lettuce every two to three weeks while the weather suits it, and quick crops such as radish every one to two weeks. Your climate and varieties decide the interval; the planner shows each round's dates and warns when a bed is over-planted or sits empty for three weeks or more.
- Does it work for raised beds?
- Yes. Each bed has its own area, plantings share a bed, and the planner warns when plantings planned for the same days need more room than the bed has.
- Can I import the spreadsheet I already use?
- Yes. Upload a CSV or Excel crop plan: the planner matches your columns, creates any missing beds at a site you place on the map, and never overwrites plantings it has already imported.
- Is it free?
- Planning is free on every plan, for any number of beds and plantings. Satellite monitoring of plantings that are in the ground covers one bed or field on the free plan and up to 25 on Grower.
